Educational Qualification:

Received BSc Engg (Electrical) degree from Bangladesh University of Engineering & Technology (BUET) Dhaka in 1975, obtained First Class with Honours marks and stood First in order of merit. 
Received MSc Engg (Electrical) degree from BUET, Dhaka in 1977. 
Received PhD degree in Electrical Engineering from Cambridge University (Gonville & Caius College), Cambridge (UK) in 1986.

 

Experiences:  

  • 33 years 9 months of teaching experience on 1 June 2009 of which 20 years 9 month as a Professor of Electrical and Electronic Engineering Department, BUET, Dhaka  (on 1 June 2009 ).

  • Life Fellow (FIEB) of the Institution of Engineers Bangladesh (IEB),

  • Fellow (FIET) of the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) UK, 

  • Chartered Engineer (CEng) of the Engineering Council, UK.

  • Life Fellow (FBCS) of Bangladesh Computer society (BCS), Bangladesh, 

  • Fellow of Cambridge Commonwealth Society, Cambridge, UK. 

  • Life member of Caius Club of Gonville & Caius College, Cambridge University, Cambridge, UK.

  • Member (MIEEE) of the Institute of Electrical & Electronics Engineers, USA, 

Awards:

  • Received the "Junior Group Academy Award 1988 Gold Medal" of Bangladesh Academy of Sciences (BAS) for contribution in the field of Microwave Engineering in 1988. This award was jointly given by the Bangladesh Academy of  Sciences Dhaka, Third World Academy of Science (Italy) and British Council.

  • Received "The Matsumae International Foundation Research Fellowship" of Japan in 1991. 

  • Received a three-year Cambridge Commonwealth Trust Scholarship. In 1984, also received Overseas Research Students Award (ORS) of  UK for 2 years in 1983.

Research interests:

Microwave Devices using coupled lines,

Microwave Filters and passive devices,

Microwave semiconductor devices & MMIC,

Fibre Optic Communications,

Semiconductor Lasers : MQW Lasers, VCSEL and DFB Lasers,

RF Engineering,

Mobile Communications,

Satellite Communications,

DVB,

WiMAX technology.

Recent research activities:

Currently supervising a number of VCSEL and DFB Laser related post graduate research projects.

Looking for highly motivated researchers willing to work on MQW Lasers, VCSEL and DFB Lasers in the team.

Looking for Foreign Research collaboration on  MQW, VCSEL and DFB Lasers

 

Contribution in National and International Level:

In addition to regular teaching, research and administrative jobs, has been involved as a Technical Expert / Consultant. in a number of National Engineering Projects/ jobs related to

(i) Special Lighting (stadium lighting),

(ii) Electrical Distributions in high rise and usual Buildings and Cities,

(iii) Electrical Distributions in Industries,

(iv) Telecommunications and Wireless Communications

Worked as a member of the Board of Governors of Bangladesh Institute of Technology Khulna during 2000 - 2003. Worked as a member of the Syndicate of Khulna University of Engineering & Technology, Khulna since the beginning of this University in 2003 up to June 2007.

Worked as a member of the Selection Board for the appointment of Professors and Assistant Professor of ECE department of Khulna University of Engineering & Technology (KUET), Khulna since the beginning of this University in 2003 up to August 2007.

Has been putting significant contribution  in University level Engineering Education especially Electrical and Electronic Engineering (EEE), Electronic and Telecommunications Engineering (ETE) and Electronic and Communications Engineering (ECE).
